Coos Dam (1962) is a freelance photographer, digital video reporter and (travel)writer living in Arnhem, in the eastern part of The Netherlands, close to the German border.
He has over fifteen years of experience in photojournalism, working for many different magazines and newspapers throughout the years.

During the nineties he decided to start combining photography with writing and traveling. His first project was a series of travelstories about a three months voyage through China, published in 1997 as Laowai (Chinese for foreigner).

Afterwards he started working as an freelance editor for the Dutch adventurous travelmagazine Voyager and wrote many more stories about travels in Bulgaria, Algeria, Italy, Great Britain, Kamchatka, Egypt and so on.

Nowadays he is still working as a photographer for several magazines (working with both analog and digital 35mm camera's) and as a writer of mainly stories about adventurous travels. Apart from the regular assignments he is planning a large-scale project (photography as well as text) about new energy sources.

Since 2006 he also started to work as a video reporter, using a high quality mini-DV camera, in respond to the growing demand for video footage on both television and internet.
